- Vodafone has transferred 35% of its stake in Safaricom to Vodacom S. Africa
- Vodafone owns 65% of Vodacom SA and the share swap deal, in which Vodafone will get Ordinary Vodacom shares, will increase Vodafone’s ownership in Vodacom to 70%
- The share swap deal will allow M-Pesa to venture to other African countries. Previously, a clause in the Vodafone/ Safaricom agreement barred Safaricom from going into other African countries
